Investing In Mothers, Inspiring Futures

Our Mission

The Validated Motherhood Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that prioritizes the physical and mental well-being of mothers, birthing people. and families throughout Colorado from pregnancy through the postpartum period.

We are deeply invested in the mental and physical well-being of all families transitioning into parenthood and providing resources to ensure better birth and postpartum outcomes to the underserved, underinsured, and marginalized communities.

The Validated Motherhood Foundation provides donation based scholarships to BIPOC communities, underinsured communities, and marginalized communities to ensure that these families have access to resources that improve birth outcomes and postpartum outcomes to help eliminate the risks of maternal mortality, postpartum mood disorders, maternal suicide, and maternal drug abuse in the most fragile populations and communities.

Our scholarships provide access to services and care from birth through the first 6 months postpartum. Scholarship recipients can access the following services from within our maternal care partner, The Rylie Center for Hope and Healing:

  • Birth Doula Support
  • Postpartum Doula Support
  • Lactation and Feeding Support
  • Mental Health Counseling
  • Chiropractic Support
  • Pelvic Floor Therapy
  • Sleep Support

Why validated motherhood?

  • Discrimination contributed to 39.6% of all maternal deaths.

  • Native American & Black patients were less likely to receive timely prenatal care (72.1% and 73.0% respectively, compared to 77.1% of all Medicaid patients).

  • Black mothers are 53% more likely to experience Severe Maternal Mortality than their white counterparts. Native American mothers are twice as likely (98%).

  • Hispanic mothers are 28% more likely to experience severe maternal morbidity & Asian mothers – 20% more likely.

  • Black pregnant and postpartum people in Colorado were 1.9 times more likely to die during pregnancy or within one year of the end of pregnancy

  • Behavioral health conditions, including mental illness and substance use, are the number one cause of maternal mortality in Colorado.

  • Nearly six in 10 maternal deaths in Colorado are attributed to either mental health or substance abuse.

  • 1 in 11 women experience postpartum mood or anxiety disorders, with rates as high as 20% in some BIPOC communities.

  • Black women have increased risk factors for maternal mental health disorders due to higher levels of trauma exposure
